HEADFRAMES AND MINE SHAFTS
OF THE GOGEBIC RANGE:
VOLUME 3, IRON COUNTY, WISCONSIN
By Bruce K. Cox
The third volume in this series covers all of
the productive iron mines of Iron county, Wisconsin, but begins
at the BERKSHIRE in Ashland county, the only mine to ship ore
from that county. It continues east, from the TYLER'S FORK,
across the DELLA, UPSON, ANNA, SHORES, IRON BELT, ATLANTIC,
PLUMER, PENCE, FATHER HENNEPIN, MONTREAL, OTTAWA, AMAZON,
ODANAH, CARY, SUPERIOR, BESSEMER, KAKAGON, NIMIKON, WINDSOR,
GERMANIA, and MINNEWAWA. The headframe at the PLUMER mine is the
only one still standing on the entire Gogebic Range. All of
these mines are mapped out on fourteen maps. The book includes a
list of sources. First published in 2000.
